Night clubs in Bangkok

Bangkok's exuberant nightlife scenes are not confined to any specific area, but spread all over town and more concentrated in some neighborhoods. Wherever you are staying in Bangkok, a club or bar is bound to be nearby. Admission to bars and clubs is generally free, with the exception of some high-end clubs which ask entry fees of up to 600 baht. Usually, this will include one or two free drinks. Most places are fairly relaxed and impose no strict dress codes. Some of the posher establishments don't like to see flip flops or shorts, and require ID, so make sure you find out before to avoid disappointment.

SUKHUMVIT

Some of the city's hippest and trendiest clubs are found around Sukhumvit Road. Sukhumvit Soi 11 is home to two of Bangkok's most fashionable clubs, Bed Supperclub and Q Bar. This lively Soi also houses a number of restaurants as well as bars including Cheap Charlie's, a favourite among local expatriates.

Bed SupperclubBed Supperclub

This must be one of the most unique places in Bangkok! Set in a tube-shaped building, the white futuristic décor creates a spaceship-like feel.

Lounge, relax and have dinner in the Supperclub, or get grooving in the club. Different DJ every night. Cover entry includes free drink. 26 Sukhumvit Soi 11
Open: 7.30pm to 1am
Skytrain: Nana

Q Bar

New York style bar/club that attracts an edgy and cosmopolitan crowd and is a running favourite among Bangkok's locals and expatriates. Resident DJs spin house, hip hop, chill out lounge and soulful jazz. 34 Sukhumvit Soi 11.
Open daily 8pm to 1am.
Skytrain: Nana

Narcissus

Set inside an impressive mansion, the interior is pompous and grand. Resident DJs play trance while international DJs make appearances regularly. Popular and packed club.
Sukhumvit Soi 23
Open: daily 8.30pm to 1am

SILOM

Not far from Patpong, Silom Soi 4 is one of Bangkok's most vibrant nightspots. Crammed into this famous little Soi, you will find restaurants, bars and some of the city's coolest clubs. Though dominated by a gay scene, women and couples will feel comfortable in this area, which also attracts a lot of Bangkok's 'in' crowd. Soi 4 is a narrow lane located opposite Convent Road. The nearest BTS station is Sala Daeng. Several more bars and clubs can be found within this area.

Tapas

This chic club is the place to go for house music. Set in a stylish two-storey venue - which features a superb roof top bar open only on special occasions - Tapas presents live percussionists twice a week and attracts a hip and beautiful crowd with the occasional celebrity to be spotted. Hot and heaving on weekends! Open daily 8pm to 1am.

TapasHome

Home is a popular hip hop bar. A three storey bar with a décor resembling someone's house. Open daily 8pm to 1am.

Lucifers

In a cave like setting, this is where techno rules. Loud, packed and hectic. Go for it.
76/1-3 Patpong Soi 1

Barbican

A bit of style with tapas and a good wine list. Popular with expats. Happy Hour 5-7pm. Thaniya Rd

Lang Suan

Langsuan and adjacent Sarasin Road are home to a cluster of restaurants, bars and clubs. Popular among mainly Thais, venues like The Room on Sarasin become very lively, packed and wild on weekends.

Ad Makers Pub & Restaurant

A favourite with expats who come to wind down. Good local bands with a leaning towards covers of rock favourites. The sort of place where you can go with the flow or make your own party. Mainly Thai food with a few international items. 51/1 Soi Lang Suan. Tel: 02-652 1069. Open: 5pm-1am. Music from 8pm. Credit cards accepted. Skytrain: Chitlom

Brown Sugar

Smoky, cool, great musicians, in need of a bit of refurbishment, friendly and laid back. Just as a good jazz club should be. Located around Soi Sarasin among a batch of small music venues, Brown Sugar has hosted a number of international artists and a local expat favourite
Soi Sarasin, Lumpini. Open: 5pm-2am. Music from 9.30pm Credit cards accepted

RCA

Very popular among Thai university students, but hardly known among visitors, Royal City Avenue (RCA) is a massive entertainment area featuring some of Bangkok's biggest clubs. If you want experience young Thais partying and letting off steam, this is the place to go. A multitude of different bars and clubs are scattered along this road playing anything from R&B, house, techno and alternative rock, to Thai pop. What's great about RCA is its variety of its venues' themes and styles, and most places stay open later than 1am.

Route 66Club Astra

Club Astra is one of Bangkok's most up-and-coming night venues featuring both local and internationally re-known DJs. Equipped with a super sound system, this massive dance arena can fit up to 1,500 people!

Flix and Slim

Set in a colossal building with two wings, Flix is on the left and Slim on the right. While Slim specializes in R&B and commercial Hip Hop, Flix spins house tunes. Both clubs are stylish and heaving with people on weekends.

Route 66

Similar to Flix and Slim, the re-vamped Route 66 is divided into two sections East and West. Since R&B and Hip Hop seem to be what Bangkok's night crawlers want, it's what you'll hear in both sides.
